We recognised in the Recommendations of the CLC European Assembly in Lille
that communication is one of our biggest challenges. Through a careful
reading of the national reports, presented in Lille and mainly the answers to
the cross-border initiatives question, we realize that in some National
Communities (NC) many efforts are already done to go beyond borders
As Euroteam we would like to help making this happen in a larger number of NCs. By sharing resources and experiences, by pooling good practices, resources and competences we strengthen our bonds and we are truly on the process of becoming a unique community.
To face this challenge and to incarnate our faith into vital relationships, we are fully aware that we cannot rely on electronic contacts only. Face-to-face relationships are the crucial vehicle to waive relationships, to reinforce networks, to foster teamworking. We observe that in the life of our youth a European conscience is slightly growing out of the always more frequent and structured travelling and stay experiences of students which spend time in foreign countries.
To pursue concretely this goal we open a consultation on NCs on the proposal of our own “CLC Erasmus program”, aimed at easing the exchange of CLC members across countries. Our proposal is organised according to the following three steps:
i) any national CLC community communicate to the Euroteam the dates of her national events for which she is happy to host members of other national CLC communities
ii) after taking vision of the international calendar through www.clceurope.org, national communities look for domestic members willing to attend one of them, coordinate with the hosting community and send a group of minimum two-three persons to such events
iii) the receiving CLC communities takes care of hospitality during the event by appointing a few members as hosting group of the foreign CLC participants helping them to integrate (overcome language barriers, if any), participate actively and getting fruit to the event.
On point i) our personal feeling is that National Assemblies for their official character and for the richness of the event which combines various moment of community life (spirituality, social exchange, formation) may be the one of the privileged events which could be selected for this initiative. Nonetheless we are open to receive fruits of the discernment of national communities on this point and enlarge the exchange to other moments.
Regarding the financial side, as Euroteam we propose if possible, that the sending community pays for the travel costs of its members and the hosting community takes in charge the stay (bed and food). If necessary, a CLC-Erasmus solidarity fund can be created on a european level.
Being aware that our role is more that of serving, proposing and assisting national communities we just offer this idea to NCs and open a discernment on the opportunity of its realisation. Please send your proposals to Leonardo Becchetti [becchetti@economia.uniroma2.it]
As a Euroteam we offer to coordinate and promote information on this
initiative by communicating, supporting and evaluating the fruits of the
ongoing and already undertaken exchange programs for the European CLC.
